My title The Ship Inn, Mevagissey – Elizabeth's Footprint

The Ship Inn, Mevagissey

The Ship Inn is a traditional Cornish pub at Mevagissey, a charismatic fishing village which is set in a close proximity to the Heligan Gardens and Eden Project.

The owners of the inn are Lee and Dianne Young. Although l didn’t have a chance to meet them personally, Lee and Dianne kindly provided me with a free accommodation which also included food. I stayed there on 1st of March, after I finished my Walk of Love day 15.

This was a gloomy day with a long, exhausting walk and l was really looking forward for a nice rest. It was such a relief to find that Ship Inn is located just in a few metres from the harbour. A friendly team of young people met me there and showed me the way to a comfortable room.

Later on, l met their kindhearted manager Melanie. We had a bit of chat and she offered me to have any dish from their menu in the restaurant. I chose traditional fish and chips and can honestly tell, it was the most amazing fish and chips l have ever tasted!

It happened that l came on Tuesdays when The Ship Inn holds a quiz night. The pub had a lively atmosphere with cosy fire and lots of friendly people around. Of course, I didn’t stay for the quiz but l was told that at the end of it the team announced about Elizabeth’s Footprint event and kind people put their donations into my money collection box.

From all my heart l thanks Lee and Dianne for their kindness and full support of Elizabeth’s Footprint charity walk and l would certainly recommend The Ship Inn as a very welcoming place with scrumptious home made food.
